All of my close friends, or those who have known me since I was a college freshman, knows that I am a HUGE fan of Dashboard Confessional. They are the only band I’d go great lengths to just to see them in play live here in Manila. So imagine my reaction when I found out last month that they will have a one-night-only concert at the Trinoma parking lot.
The day the tickets got released, I persuaded fellow DC/Chris Carrabba fanatic, Jgo, to book tickets to the show. Now we have VIP tickets and great seats to see and drool over Chris. The only worry I had left was the setlist. I know they are promoting their latest album so I was afraid that they’d leave their old songs to make room for their latest singles. Worry no more!
(Disclaimer: This is the setlist for their After The Ending Tour that’s been going around the internet. I am not 100% sure that this is the actual setlist for their May 27 concert in Manila. Just a heads up :P)
Yesterday, Aaron Roselo posted a link in Facebook that showed the band’s setlist for the concert on May 27. I took the liberty of making a new graphic that would display the said setlist because it is so much prettier than typing it here. I was going spastic as I typed each song, imagining scenes of me singing with the band… singing with Chris. Char!
I’m happy that most of the songs are personal favorites from past albums. Partly because I’ve memorized all their songs by heart until their Dusk and Summer release. The Brilliant Dance is a great subtle opening, followed by a more upbeat Saints and Sailors. Other personal favorites like Screaming Infidelities, Stolen, As Lovers Go, Don’t Wait and The Swiss Army Romance are sure to get me spazzing out during the set. Although I’m sad they didn’t include Rapid Hope Loss in there.
I’m a little bummed that they don’t have a song from The Shade of Poison Trees. It may be their weakest album release, but I have favorites there as well. It’s also nice that they included the only songs I’ve memorized from After the Ending (Belle of the Boulevard and Get Me Right) because this means I only need to memorize 2 songs from the entire list.
Then The Best Deceptions and Hands Down for the encore?!?!?! I swear, tears will be running down my cheeks the moment Chris sings “Breathe in for luck, breathe in so deep”. Other bodily fluids may also be released without prior notice.
