It’s no longer a secret to my close friends that procrastinating is already second nature to me next to cramming. In fact, I am so aware that it’s the main reason I’m not as successful as I want to be and that there’s very little chance I could actually reach my goal because I can’t get things done.
I can remember vividly that I made my entire thesis project in college 2 nights before the deadline (And still got a 4.0! Woot!). It was a 40-page children’s storybook about kids with imaginary friends done for 48 hours straight. I’ve even labeled myself a professional crammer due to my uncanny ability to rush everything in a short amount of time.
Wait, Plan, Plan
I attended a self-help seminar a few months ago and it was pointed out there that I am a Thinker. Basically, Thinkers are people who are always open to new ideas and concepts, always willing to experiment and plan, but they don’t get things done unlike the Doers. I want to be more like Barney Stinson and not Ted Mosby. After realizing this, I told myself that I will strive to become a doer, or better yet, a thinker who gets things done!
I’ve always been a hardcore practitioner of living in the moment. The downside to that is my idea of ‘living in the moment‘ does not require moving a lot (e.g. sleeping, eating, watching t.v., resting, lounging… you get the idea). It’s not really about being lazy per se, I’d like to think that I am carefully planning everything before I actually do it. Therefore, when I do it, I do it fast. Hahahaha.

Blame it on the internet
If you’ve read my previous comic strip, it’s actually sort of true in my case. I sometimes find myself regularly checking back to all of my social accounts just to see if there are any updates and it’s really pretty sad. It’s hard for me to accept the fact that these kind of websites don’t update every 5 minutes. Hahahaha. It’s not even enough for me that I had to make a Tumblr account and that’s where I found myself wasting every minute of my life.
What people don’t realize is that being a true-blue procrastinator is hard! You get emotionally drained, psychologically tuned out, physically weak, and intellectually challenged for doing absolutley nothing! And at the end of the day you’ll hate yourself for it, but you know very well that it’s the same thing you’ll be doing the next day.
Now, I know I’ve said this a billion times, but I intend to be pro-active from now on! I’m guilty for stagnating the past couple of years since graduating from college but since I finally have the motivation and inspiration to keep creating more stuff, I am ready to get my life back on track and kick procrastination on it’s ass!

hahaha nice strip.
procrastination is fun. everybody wants to be like barney not ted.
IT IS FUN! :D
Pero masama na din kung nakasanayan na.
Barney has this confident and awesome aura kasi eh. SO everybody wants to be like him.
It’s funny that we are the same, I always procrastinate. It doesn’t really feel good sometimes though, as what you said, it’s really hard. I mean extremely hard in my case ’cause I am still studying.
Oh and the internet! Gees, I hate the fact that it’s true.
Nakakatamad naman kasi talaga si life. Wahahaha.
At oo. T_T
P.S, I am back! Hehe, Sorry if I am out for a while. Plus, I love the fact that you got the REPLY thing now here on your comment box. ;-)
Oo no! Hahahaha! :D
Wooo! Welcome baaaaack! :D
Can definitely relate to this. You have a very nice blog btw :)
Thanks Vince! :)
guilty ako sa pag-check ng social network accounts ko. even during my working hours! parang there’s always an urge to check if there are updates from my friends. siguro dahil homesick lang dito sa saudi. hehehe.
Aw. how long have you been working in Saudi kuya?
Your reason naman is legit becuase you miss your friends and family. Adik lang talaga yung iba. Hahahaha.
almost a year na ako dito. and i really can’t wait for my vacation on august! i hope we can meet up together with the other bloggers.
Oh man. Same here. I haven’t even cleaned my room yet but I learned (thanks to the internet) tons of organizing and shirt-folding tips. Eek. Must. Clean. Room.
Sleeeping is sooooo nice. And I got hooked in Tumblr na din! That friggin site is just full of awesome things. Grrrr.
Have fun cleaning your room! Hahaha.
wow. new lay-out!
yeah, procrastination is just so fun. I always have a workplan and time table and all those stuff but I always end up not following it at all.
yeah you’re right with “living the moment” idea. it’s just so hard to keep the momentum of work up and kickin’ alive. There will be this day when you’re totally drained and just want to stop. But it’s good to hear you’re ready to be back on track!
PS: I want to be Robin Scherbatsky. haha!
Wahahaha! I can relate dun sa puro plan lang talaga at walang nagagawa. Maybe you’re a Thinker, too?
Actually, I agree with you on the momentum thing.
Totoo yan! It’s where all the awesome shit comes from. :D
wahaha, ako din ako din, kasali ako dito!! may planner ako na may sangkatutak na post-it na may to do list na di ko naman sinusunod kasi nakakatamad hahaha :P
i agree, blame it all on the internet!! kasi naman eh hahaha, like now, as in now, instead of studying for my quiz in obligations and contracts, i’m here at the comp lab and using the internet!! weeeee!! hahaha :P
oh yeah, btw, when i’m writing blog posts, i need to stare at my dashboard for so many hours first bago ako may mai-type :P hahaha
Hehehehe.
Cramming and procrastination go well together hehe. True they are not very very admirable traits but with those two, you can prove to the world your versatility and wit.
Pero phew maybe like you, I grew up having those two. I may live with them for the rest of my life. Hope not. :))
Yes they do. :D
They both coexist with each other. Hey I like how you say that they express someone’s versatility and wit ha. I’ll look at it that way form now on. :)
i am so like this… :( sigh.. pano kaya magbago?
Hindi ko rin alam. Hahahaha.
Self-discipline lang siguro.
I lived through cramming like I owned it in college haha The adrenaline rush is intense, man.
And oh, the comics strip is just hands down! LoL D
College is where you develop your cramming skills. :))
I can somewhat relate, but the good thing is I managed to break that kind of habit. Now I plan things ahead and make schedules. I also make sure that I follow them religiously. It was hard at first, but in the end it was also good for my self-discipline.
Good for you! Procrastination is such a hard habit to break. A lot of people in this generation lack self-discipline and high E.Q. kasi. Wahahaha.
Bwahahaha! Kasalanan ng Facebook lahat!
Why don’t you try to procrastinate……………later when you get around to it?
Hmmmm….. tama. I’ll procrastinate LATER! :D
Dumadami na tayo kuya robbie. hahaha.
Last summer nung nagiinternship ako, I was given a task by my boss to rebrand their company. I was given a month to do the project. In the first 3 weeks, all I did was think, think, think. I didn’t write anything down. The day before the deadline, saka ko ginawa. I started at 5Am at natapos ako ng 7am. A month’s work was finished in two hours. Sabi ko, ok lang kahit pangit. Nakakatamad na e. Bahala na kung di maabsorb.
Nung pinasa ko na, my boss called me at sinabi, nagustuhan nya daw. Natawa ako. Di nya alam kanina ko lang ginawa. :))))))))
Anyway, pareho tayo. Mas gusto ko ding nakaupo nalang at nag-iisip ng magandang status update kesa magpapawis sa gym o s court o saan man. haha. tapos tutulog na. lol :)))) apir!
Bwahahaha!!! Cramming is the best mehn! Wahahaha!
haha! eksakto! parang adrenaline rush! surprising ang results. :D
promise, i’ll read this later. hehe. try reading Getting Things Done by David Allen. Apparently when you procrastinate, you build up a lot of psychic baggage and you become stressed (which makes you want to just lie down and procrastinate some more). vicious cycle.
Hehehe. Sige I’ll try to grab a copy of that book.
I agree on the psychic baggage shit. Sobrang nakaka-stress talaga kapag bum ka magdamag. Grrrr.
Hey Robbie! Saan ba nakakabili ng kasipagan at mamamakyaw ako!hahaha Same case here. Im sooo out of focus right now. B-L-U-R-R-E-D kaya walang matapos tapos!haha Dumagdag pa facebook, youtube, forums at kung ano ano pang distractions!lol
To stop myself from self-destruction,lol I decided to download a program that blocks websites for certain no. of hours. Dunno if you’ve heard of Self-Control? Kahit i-off mo computer it still works! Ayun, it’s helping a lot lately. Especially pag may mga rush. You can check it out here http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/31289/selfcontrol.
Nako! Hahaha.
Salamat sa link na yan! I’ll install it in the office Mac first thing tomorrow! :D
some people just tend to do things better under extreme pressure.
wahahahaha di maka-get over sa reply button. :))
Homaygosh! This is very true to me! I seemed to be wasting my time several hours on the net. And, when I asked myself after, I didn’t know what I have had accomplished.. whew! ;)
Internet = evvvil! Hahaha.
sabi nga nila “You know you are getting old when it takes too much effort to procrastinate.” kaya keep up the good work hehehe :D
You’re awesome! :)
