Works in Progress – 081710

I’ve been drawing a lot the past few weeks, which is good. In fact, it’s the only thing I do whenever I’m stuck at home since I don’t have any freelance work right now. This is really the perfect opportunity to get in touch with my creative juices after a long time of hiatus.

The illustration above is inspired from The Little Prince. It really has a bit of sentimental value to me and the characters there symbolizes some people in my life before. Anyhoo, cheesy mode over. It’s the third piece I’m doing for the exhibit, 21 more to go! Sheesh. At this rate baka umabot na next year yung exhibit. Hahaha.

From Under the Dork Tree

Some of the illustrations in my previous Works in Progress post are already finished. Some are still in the drawing board. Hahaha.

Shape Challenges

There are days when I have these small challenges to improve my character design skills like the ones above where I;m supposed to create new characters from pre-existing shapes done by someone else. I got these challenges from a group in DeviantArt.

Top left is an illustration based on my love for Garlic Shrimp Pasta. The other two were drawing requests from a couple of cool kids at Tumblr.

I’m also working simultaneously on a fourth exhibit piece. I’m still not sure about how this will look like because my entire work process tends to be really inconsistent. I’m all wishy-washy like that.

On that note, I might actually do this Works in Progress post at least once a month, just to make sure I am keeping up with my goal to improve and to draw more. In fairness, I believe I have immensely improved since my last drawing spree 2 years ago.

Oh! And I’m also working on a new comic strip series that will replace Role Models! If you noticed, I stopped updating that one a few months ago due to personal reasons, so I decided to make a new series na lang. =D

Actually depende sa artist kung ilang works ang ilalagay niya sa exhibit. Depende din sa concept niya at kung ilan ang kaya.

Nag-mamaganda lang ako at gusto ko ng 24 para sakto sa age ko. Wahahaha.

I really appreciate your work. I am not an artistic person, I don’t even know how to draw but I know beautiful work when I see one. How I wish I could be as creative as you are, I can only imagine how liberating it is for somebody to be able to express himself through drawing./ illustrations.

      Thanks pusang-kalye!

There are tons of ways naman to express yourself in visual arts, and you don’t need to know how to draw or be good at it. I think the important part about it is getting the message through. =)
