For years I have avoided a trip to the local amusement park, Enchanted Kingdom, because it’s a mishmash of my fears all in one place. 15 years since it opened to the public and I still haven’t gone there but since it was a goal for my 50/25 project, I had to put my brave face on. Besides, it annoys me every time someone says “Oh my God! You haven’t been to EK?!?” as if I’m missing half of my life.

Demophobia: fear of crowds or masses of people
Last December 4, together with Team Kaladkarin, we took a trip to the place where the magic lives on… or so they say. Little did we know that the place would be packed by students on their field trip. Hundreds of buses parked outside the area because the parking lot inside was already filled with even more buses. We felt a little discouraged but pushed through with it because we traveled all the way to Laguna for this and we ain’t turning back!
While in line at the entrance, we noticed a sign that said the queue for each ride would take at least a couple of hours because of the number of people inside. At first I dismissed it, there was no way people would fall in line for a couple of hours for a ride that would only take a couple of minutes. I was dead wrong, because oh did we wait. In the time we spent hanging out, I could have amassed a new civilized empire, kicked ass in an World of Warcraft raid or won a few extra bucks from online bingo. Instead, we waited 2 hours per attraction before even getting our asses onto any rides. Since we arrived late in the afternoon, we were only able to experience 3 rides. That’s 6 hours of productivity sizzling on the pavement. Next time.

Congested much? The queue was unbelievable! It felt like I was in Jeje Republic

Tiangge? People kept coming and falling in line even at night.
Tachophobia: fear of speed
First up was the Jungle Log Jam. Prior to this, I haven’t ridden any ride whatsoever and was scared as shit. While waiting in line, I saw people having fun on the log and it seemed like a pretty mild ride. However, when it was our turn I couldn’t help but scream like a girl right before taking the first plunge down. I’m no adrenaline junkie. I get scared when I’m on a bus that’s going 60km/h on the expressway. What more on an unstable piece of contraption going down a water slide?!
By the time we were on the second plunge, I was already screaming my lungs out. Oh, and I was seated at the front because I didn’t expect to get wet that much but by the end of the ride I was soaked from head to toe.

Wet wet wet

Pretty tired of waiting. Natuyo na ang damit kakahintay.
Acrophobia: fear of heights
It was 5:00 pm and we decided to take the Wheel of Fate next because we wanted to see the view. After 2 more hours of waiting, I stepped into a cart with Smarla, Dam, and Will, realizing afterwards that I shouldn’t have because of my acrophobia. For most of the ride, I had my head tucked down under my arms, furiously yelling and cussing at whoever decides to turn the cart for a spin.
Every time our cart would reach the ground below, I’d sit up straight and pretend it’s all cool because there were tons of people that can see me. Hahaha.

That's a looooooong way down!

This is the only view I had inside the Wheel of Fate. Sissy, you say?
Dystychiphobia: fear of accidents.
Our third and final ride was the Flying Fiesta. Honestly, I’ve never screamed as much as I did while on this thing. Initially, I asked Lou if she would share a couple’s chair with me because I was already terrorized in seeing the group before us swinging up in the air. We rushed to find a couple’s seat but darn kids were faster that us so I ended up alone during the entire ride.
It was okay at first, but as the chair got higher and faster, I couldn’t help but imagine the cables snapping, throwing my sissy ass to the ground. I can actually hear people around me laughing at my constant wails but I didn’t care! I was hanging on for dear life!

Posing time

Parang America's Next Top Model lang. Cycle 16.

I actually wanted to ride the Merry-Go-Round because it's so tame.

EK virgins no more! We have penetrated the kingdom! Hahaha.
Immediately after that, a voice coming from the speakers said that the park was a bout to close. We took our time taking some photos because we knew it’d be quite a while before the park is cleared of students. If you’re wondering why we didn’t ride the infamous Space Shuttle, fortunately for me, it was closed for repairs. Plus, I told them that if they’re going to ride the Space Shuttle I’d go and ride the Swan Lake. Hahaha.
My first experience in a theme park was okay. I felt the magic in the company and not the place. Even though we waited in line for a total of 6 hours, we made up by having fun talking and bonding even though this trip was the first time most of us saw each other!
I found nothing enchanting about Enchanted Kingdom. Knowing it was the holiday season, I wish they closed the park and reserved it for the thousands of students for that day, and informed people weeks before that the park would be packed.

Team Kaladkarin! Awesome shot by Smarla.
Kudos to Team Kaladkarin! It wouldn’t have been the same without Lou, Anais, Arni, Will, Dam, Dani, Smarla, Jayvie, Erica, Bryan, and Marc.

Hello.
Wahaha. Lol. Actually pang monthsary special to. Chos! Wahaha.
AYOKO NANG BUMALIK! WAG PLEASE, HUWAG!!!! T_T
wohoooo space shuttle at Ekstreme! :D
dapat sayo merry go round, bump cars, pati rialto. hehehe.
Di rin namin nasakyan Rio Grande. We were choosing between that and Wheel of Fate and we wanted to see a nice view instead of mabasa na naman. Hahaha. Yung tower ride ayoko. Mamamatay ako sa kaba. Wahaha.
Ininvite kita eh! Sayang!
Oi si Marc Oh….
Anyway, di kayo nag-space shuttle?
Pero kung madami ngang tao 3 hour wait for a less than 1 minute ride…
Ay! Small world. Wahahaha.
Space Shuttle was closed for repair. Di mo binasa! Hahaha.
natakot ka sa flying fiesta?????? WTH?!?! hahahaha!
WALANG PAKIALAMANAN!!!!!
Isa akong malaking duwagers, baket bahhhhh!!!!! Wahahahaha.
I rode the Space Shuttle and the Anchors Away (na mas nakakatakot pa pala sa Space Shuttle kasi mabagal) kahit naduduwag ako and may fear ako sa heights (well, next time na yung Wheel of Fate). You only live once! Dapat inexperience mo na!:D
Ikaw na. Ikaw na ang bida kontrabida pang-sports pa!
Eh sa di ko pa keri ehhhhhhhh. I’m terrified! Kaya nga theme park phobia debah! Tsuramae! Hahaha.

Hey Rob/Kuya Rob. It’s my first time here & I had a nice time reading. Planong ko ngang mag-back read mamaya. Lol.
Anyway, I’ve been to EK twice. Pero like you said, hindi enchanting yung place.
I rode Space Shuttle once, hanep, ayoko nang umulit. My fave ride is yung Anchors Away ‘cos it’s quite cool. & not to mention, yung Flying Fiesta.
Ang cool ng photos. Anong cam gamit?
Hi poot! Welcome to my blog!
True, pinagandang carnival lang. Wahaha. Or baka di masyado maganda experience ko dahil ANG DAMING TAO! Hahaha.
Hehe.
Dyahe nga ‘pag maraming tao. April 2010 kami pumunta dun and surprisingly, di ganun karami yung tao. Pero enjoy din naman.
Pero ang CR dun, yuck! Once lang ako gumamit ng CR dun, nung first naming punta nung ’08. Basta, yuck talaga. Na-trauma ako kaya di na ako umulit. Hehe :)))
That’s one of my pet peeves also. Dirty CRs! Hinding hindi ko kaya. That’s why hindi ako nagCR nung nasa EK kami kasi alam kong it’s going to be soooooooo disgusting with so many people there. O_O
I agree with Wichie. Mas nakakatakot ang Anchors Away (at Wheel of Fate I think). The Space Shuttle is the best ride there. Hehe!
Nice photos. Anong gradient ginamit mo? Or did you use one? :)
wrong spelling pangalan ko, angtuaco :P
Edited na! Hihihi. Sensya. :D
Wow, at ngayon mo lang talaga to pinost! Hahahaha!
Wahahaha.
Hahaha whatever will! :P
thanks for editing Robbie!
Hahahaah, yah, i know i know. duwag tayong lahat dun!
Haha! I was there recently and it was dun until I tried “Flying Fiesta”. It was more like a Flying Puke-Fest.
Good to know I’m not the only one who found Flying Fiesta too much. Hehehe.
weehee! congrashuleyshens dear!
1 down! =)
2 down na! Yung outreach mo din. Hehehe.
aba, one month ka na palang EK-virgin-no-more hahahaha :D
Diba ikaw din? Wahahaha.
Wah! I love EK. :)) Space shuttle is ? Nice pix btw :)
Hahaha.
Oo nga no. Ngayon ko lang narealize na ngayon mo lang pinost to. Haha. TK Monthsary! Haha.
LOL
how about anchor’s away and space shuttle? tska ung isang ride na biglang nalalaglag? nu ba un? pag nasakyan mo un, prang kaya mo na lahat ng bagay.
echos.
:P
Space Shuttle was closed for repair when we were there. Also we ran out of time to ride the other rides.
gusto ko matry yung space shuttle….at..i cant blame u..kasi nakakatakot talaga yung jungle log…kasi nga di safe yung seat belt kuno nila…di pa rin nila pinalitan til now?
at saka..seryoso..6 hours??? sa linya????
Hi, try visiting EK on low seasons instead like June and July (since classes just started). It’s way more fun. My friends and I went there last July 2010, and we were able to ride all the rides without any hassle or long lines. It’s nice to experience EK too without the hustle and bustle of the holidays! (But I did went last Dec. 23, 2010 too, and it was surprisingly not crowded.)
