Subspace Coffee House, somewhere in this galaxy

There are those moments when you find yourself falling in love with a place the very second you step inside its doors. Your five senses are satisfied with what is within that room and you spend hours absorbing as much detail as you can so that when you leave, you bring with you certain specks of memories to hold on to until the next time fate decides to bring you back there.  Well, that’s sort of how my experience in Subspace Coffee House went.

Subspace is a brand new coffee house in Ortigas, just a few blocks behind Robinsons Galleria. It’s located at the ground floor of Grand Emerald Tower, F. Ortigas Jr. Road, to be more specific. When I first went there a few weeks back with Smarla, it was only about a month old. Fresh na fresh.

Awesome ceiling thingamajig! <3

Oh hello there! I'll nomnom you all next time!

I like how this wall turned into a screen at night.

The first thing that’ll catch your attention once you step inside is the awesome and quirk-filled interior which is no surprise since the owners own a home and lifestyle store that sells funky furniture pieces. And it’s very noticeable how the furniture gave the place a very interesting personality. One particular piece that is a standout is the brilliant ceiling installation. But every corner is just so photogenic!

The place is Korean-inspired, with K-Pop music playing on the background and projected Korean music videos on the wall at night. Everything else is a fun mix of vintage and pop culture with some space-related details. The place is quite small though, and it gets packed pretty quickly especially on weekends.

Dude. Awesome furniture.

I want this exact same chair and pillow!!!

Now for the coffee, they have some very unique twists to your usual caffeine drink. Two of their interesting flavors are the Sweet Purple Potato Latte and Peanut Butter Latte. For my love of peanut butter, I got latter which tasted okay; a little too watery for my liking but the flavor is there. Maybe if it was mixed a little better it would’ve been perfect. Smarla ordered the Purple Potato and I took a sip: it was also watery and I think it’s an acquired taste that I haven’t acquired yet. It’s a good thing I founf the chubby barista kinda cute. Hihihi.

When I came back a second time, I got the Iced Green Tea which I liked. I will definitely come back again to try a hot Purple Potato latte because other bloggers were raving about that. Also, every time I go there I order their pre-packed pastas and sandwiches. Next time, I’ll try out a dessert for a change. Like… the barista. Lol.

I don't think these plain plastic cups match the place.

Pesto and Coffee Jelly

I definitely see myself coming back there with good company because the ambience is REALLY NICE! It’s the type of environment that motivates me to work and I can see myself sitting on one of the areas to do freelance projects. Well, provided I’ll have my headphones on so I can listen to my type of music. K-pop is just not my style.

Coffee houses like Subspace is a freelancer’s second home. If it wasn’t a couple of hours away from where I live, I’d go here every other day, mainly for the atmosphere. If I would compare coffee houses to my celebrity crushes, Subspace is my Sam Concepcion, Noriter is my Paulo Avelino, and Starbucks is my Neil Etheridge. Wahaha! I’m such a harlot.
