Travelling on a weekday. I never thought I’d get to do it but things just happen and opportunities come in your way that you just can’t turn down.
Early this year, I planned to go to La Union around this month and visit Ate Mall. But due to some personal bumps on the road, I had to cancel it and thought I would just plan this trip next year. Then I received an invite to stay at Thunderbird Resort Poro Point in La Union as a guest. Who am I to turn down such an offer? Unfortunately, Ate Mall and I both had busy schedules so we weren’t able to meet there.
All I can say about Thunderbird Resort is that it erased all the stress from the 8-hour road trip that we had to get there. The place was very relaxing and the food was tremendously delicious!!! I’m very picky when it comes to fish dishes but I kept coming back to their poached fish for two nights. And their mini croissants were such a delight to eat during breakfast.
As for the rooms, I had a very strong relationship with my bed and it was a sad moment when I had to say goodbye to him. I wanted to stay on it all week. There’s definitely a reason why Thunderbird Resort Poro Point in La Union is a five-star resort and I am such a lucky person to experience it. I can feel the Santorini vibe and it all seemed like I was in Greece during my whole stay. It makes me want to go to the Caribbean and experience the Barbados Holidays for a vacation.
Aside from that, we were also able to visit some places around the town. It’s a little sad that we only had 3 hours of free time to explore San Fernando. This only means that I must go back to see the rest of La Union and visit Ate Mall!
Tarlac
On our way to La Union, we stopped over at Isdaan in Tarlac for lunch. To my surprise, that’s were Tacsiyapo is also located! I’ve only heard of it before and never thought I’d be able to actually go there! It’s the place where you can buy ceramic mugs and plates to throw against a wall. Awesome.
La Union
Because we only had 3 hours of free time to go around the town, we were only able to squeeze a few spots in our itinerary: the Pindangan Ruins, Ma-Cho Temple, and Halo-Halo Iloco restaurant.
It was really scorching hot in La Union and I was profusely sweating the entire time.
Obviously, what I have here is just a sneek preview of what happened in La Union and I think this is also the perfect timing to announce that I now have a Travel Blog!!! It is currently being hosted here as a subdomain but I already bought a domain and I just have to transfer the files there once everything is all set up. It’s the sister site of The Creative Dork which I aptly called The Travelling Dork.
Go ahead and give it some love! All my travel entries will be posted there from now on so keep checking back for my La Union posts there. =)

Sayang di ka nakasama sa sextour tho! Mas orgasmic yun. :p
Super ganda. If there’s one resort you have to go to, it’s this one. There’s a reason why they’re always fully booked!
wow inggit ako. haven’t been to Thunderbird. :)
Someday! I strongly recommend you spare some of your wealth for it. Hahaha.
Rob, Thunderbird forgot to tell you that you’re bed is a she. LOL!

Thanks Ayel! <3
Ang daming buddha dun sa Isdaan as in!!! Para nga akong nasa Thailand when I was there eh. Hahaha.
I haven't tried surfing or skimming eh. Pero plano ko bumalik ulit sa La Union next year for that! :D
Wow, dream ko na rin makapunta sa Tacsiyapo, though my Kapampangan granddad think its inappropriate to name it after a Kapampangan curse word.
At ang sarap sumayaw sa gitna ng pic mo sa Ma-Cho Temple. Walang katau-tao! Mukhang virgin.
I think that was the point. Although hindi ko kasi alam how grabe the term is in Kapampangan. But the rule is you are supposed to shout Tacsiyapo before you throw the plates.
Ma-Cho Temple is very deserted, at least when we went there.
Ah, so you need to shout it pala?
Well, sa min, “taksyapo” is like “bwisit,” pero pag sinabing “taksyapo ka,” masama na yun. Pag sumisigaw yung lolo namin nang ganun, nagtatakbuhan na kami.
yeah, kasi nga diba you’re releasing some frustration so I guess it helps if you scream out some profanity. Lol.
oo nga, para siyang barbados holidays lang… ang sarap naman dyan =)
Lol. Barbados holidays ftw!
sarap siguro magtravel ano.. hope to have that life…
I like reading your trips. Less ads, less friction and the images are curated. Anyway, never really got the chance to drop by this region. I would love to visit Ma-cho temple. The place feels like ninja-ish. Congratulations and good luck on your travel blog.
Thanks Earl!
Mac-Cho temple looks really nice and quiet. I think few people visit the place there.
Ayos! Napuntahan ko na itong magagandang lugar na nandito maliban sa Ma-Cho Temple. :)
Awesome! Maybe it’s another reason to go back? I heard there are lots more to see in La Union eh.
Wow naman! Sama nyo naman ako next time haha :)
Sama mo muna ako sa Holland. LOL =))
wow! na Poro Point kau! I’m so envious, wala akong invite. you already!
Oh, I thought this post was about surfing in La Union. Hehe. You haven’t tried surfing in San Juan yet, have you?
