I love, love, love La Union!

Travelling on a weekday. I never thought I’d get to do it but things just happen and opportunities come in your way that you just can’t turn down.

Early this year, I planned to go to La Union around this month and visit Ate Mall. But due to some personal bumps on the road, I had to cancel it and thought I would just plan this trip next year. Then I received an invite to stay at Thunderbird Resort Poro Point in La Union as a guest. Who am I to turn down such an offer? Unfortunately, Ate Mall and I both had busy schedules so we weren’t able to meet there.

All I can say about Thunderbird Resort is that it erased all the stress from the 8-hour road trip that we had to get there. The place was very relaxing and the food was tremendously delicious!!! I’m very picky when it comes to fish dishes but I kept coming back to their poached fish for two nights. And their mini croissants were such a delight to eat during breakfast.

As for the rooms, I had a very strong relationship with my bed and it was a sad moment when I had to say goodbye to him. I wanted to stay on it all week. There’s definitely a  reason why Thunderbird Resort Poro Point in La Union is a five-star resort and I am such a lucky person to experience it.  I can feel the Santorini vibe and it all seemed like I was in Greece during my whole stay. It makes me want to go to the Caribbean and experience the Barbados Holidays for a vacation.

Orgasmic.

Aside from that, we were also able to visit some places around the town. It’s a little sad that we only had 3 hours of free time to explore San Fernando. This only means that I must go back to see the rest of La Union and visit Ate Mall!

Tarlac

On our way to La Union, we stopped over at Isdaan in Tarlac for lunch. To my surprise, that’s were Tacsiyapo is also located! I’ve only heard of it before and never thought I’d be able to actually go there! It’s the place where you can buy ceramic mugs and plates to throw against a wall. Awesome.

La Union

Because we only had 3 hours of free time to go around the town, we were only able to squeeze a few spots in our itinerary: the Pindangan Ruins, Ma-Cho Temple, and Halo-Halo Iloco restaurant.

It was really scorching hot in La Union and I was profusely sweating the entire time.

Somewhere inside Pindangan Ruins

Ma-Cho Temple

Obviously, what I have here is just a sneek preview of what happened in La Union and I think this is also the perfect timing to announce that I now have a Travel Blog!!! It is currently being hosted here as a subdomain but I already bought a domain and I just have to transfer the files there once everything is all set up. It’s the sister site of The Creative Dork which I aptly called The Travelling Dork.

Go ahead and give it some love! All my travel entries will be posted there from now on so keep checking back for my La Union posts there. =)

Super ganda. If there’s one resort you have to go to, it’s this one. There’s a reason why they’re always fully booked!

Wow, dream ko na rin makapunta sa Tacsiyapo, though my Kapampangan granddad think its inappropriate to name it after a Kapampangan curse word.

At ang sarap sumayaw sa gitna ng pic mo sa Ma-Cho Temple. Walang katau-tao! Mukhang virgin.

      Posted September 17, 2011 at 7:39 pm | Permalink

I think that was the point. Although hindi ko kasi alam how grabe the term is in Kapampangan. But the rule is you are supposed to shout Tacsiyapo before you throw the plates.

Ma-Cho Temple is very deserted, at least when we went there.

      • Posted September 18, 2011 at 12:24 pm | Permalink

Ah, so you need to shout it pala?

Well, sa min, “taksyapo” is like “bwisit,” pero pag sinabing “taksyapo ka,” masama na yun. Pag sumisigaw yung lolo namin nang ganun, nagtatakbuhan na kami.

yeah, kasi nga diba you’re releasing some frustration so I guess it helps if you scream out some profanity. Lol.

I like reading your trips. Less ads, less friction and the images are curated. Anyway, never really got the chance to drop by this region. I would love to visit Ma-cho temple. The place feels like ninja-ish. Congratulations and good luck on your travel blog.

Mac-Cho temple looks really nice and quiet. I think few people visit the place there.
