Cause burgers are ‘bettah’ at Tokyo Tokyo

Yup. Aside from your usual Japanese rice meals and dishes, Tokyo Tokyo is also now serving burgers! And they’re not your usual burgers, mind you, as I was able to try out their new offerings and I can personally vouch that these would fill out your hungry tummies. With cute packaging to boot!

I’ve seen the commercial featuring the following burgers and I was a little bit intrigued and surprised that Tokyo Tokyo decided come up with something new on their menu that isn’t completely Japanese. Still, I believe it was a good move for them to have more options that would spike people’s curiosity since this is definitely something people didn’t see coming, right?

Spam and Cream Cheese Maki = Yum!

Before the burgers were served on our table, we got a quick bite of their Spam and Cream Cheese Maki, two of my favorite things in the world combined in a dish. It was a bit heavy already but I don’t mind filling in my stomach with these. Actually, I’ll eat anything edible if you put cream cheese on it, so yeah. This has got to be one of my favorites on their menu.

Shogun Burger

First up is their Shogun Burger. In Japanese, a shogun is like a commander-in-chief and this burger is said to be the one in charge as it takes command of your palate with its crunchy onion rings, a slice of cheese, and a premium beef patty with savory tonkatsu sauce. The size of the burger is just right for me since I don’t really consume much and the beef patty is already pretty heavy na.

Shiitake Mushroom Burger

My favorite of the three is the Shiitake Mushroom Burger. The beef patty comes with a good serving of shiitake mushrooms with teriyaki sauce. It’s a winning dish because I really liked the textures brought by the shiitake mushroom with the beef patty and how the teriyaki sauce brings everything together with its savory flavor.

Godzilla Burger

Their 3rd offering is quirkily called the Godzilla Burger because it’s stands taller than the rest of the burgers, towering over them with double the premium beef patties, a couple of slices of cheddar cheese, and zesty Japanese mayo.

What I loved about all three burgers is the bun. The bread has this sweetness that goes very well with the savory flavor of the beef patty and sauces.

Apparently they have a couple more unique burgers on the works and are still experimenting on putting the flavors together, but we were sworn to secrecy and you’d just have to wait around for it.

Imagine chowing down on 4 burgers and a side dish in one seating! It’s quite a big meal for a slender beauty like me. Chaughz. I couldn’t even finish everything down and had to ask for a bag so I could take the leftovers home with me in time for a midnight snack later in the night.

Oh and speaking of really delicious food, here’s Daniel Matsunaga who dropped by after dinner.

We didn’t know he was going to come after event so imagine my giddiness when I saw his head appear while coming up the stairs.
