Asian Film Festival at Shang Cineplex!

I’m sort of a fan of the Film Festivals being shown annually at Shang Cineplex in Shaw. My favorite being Eiga Sai, which shows really cool movies from Japan. But I’ve noticed that we actually lack something that showcases the best from all over Asia. Good thing I found out about the Asian Film Festival, organized by Asia Society Philippine Foundation Inc., which will start this week from May 17 to 21. Continue reading

Ender will save us all

“I don’t have a band with me. Would you guys be kind enough to help me out?”, said one Chris Carrabba as he took the stage by himself and plugged his guitar in front of a waiting audience. In a heartbeat, the entire coliseum responded with deafening screams from everyone inside, while in my head I thought “Fuck, this is going to be a great night.” Continue reading

Fuerza Bruta: Look up!

I remember vividly how I was so captivated by the photos captured in an episode of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10. Tyra said the shoot was inspired from a travelling show called Fuerza Bruta, where girls would jump flat on top of this transparent fiberglass surface that’s suspended on top of the audience with only a shallow pool of water to cushion each collision. So when I received an invite to watch the opening night of the said show last February 14, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. Continue reading

Of beer, live art, and electronic rock at Tiger Translate Manila

Last Friday night, I was invited to the official launch of Tiger Translate at KYSS in Makati. It was a fun night of live art, music, and free-flowing Tiger Beer. I’m not a party person but I was really excited about the live graffiti showdown between artists Nuno and Ekis and trying out Tiger Beer itself. Continue reading

The Creative Dork in Mapua!

After a couple of seminars in DLSU and Letran, I am now heading to Mapua Institute of Technology this October 14 for an Illustration seminar. I will be speaking about vector illustration at 9:00 AM (good luck waking up, Robbie), and my friend Aseo will be taking the spot in the afternoon. Catch us if you can!

It’s a 3-hour talk (yikes!), so apart from my usual presentation, I will also be showing a video and a live demo during the last half. I think the seminar is open to non-Mapuans but you’ll have to pay P30.00 per session. See you there! =)
