Zipping and Zorbing in Davao City

I’m a wuss. Let’s just get it out there and let it be known that I’m a sissy boy in pansy pants. I’m that guy who screamed like a girl while riding the Flying Fiesta and who had his head down atop the Wheel of Fate. Speed and heights are two of my worst fears but it was my first time in Davao and I wanted to experience riding the zipline and zorbing. Continue reading

Davao Food Appreciation Tour Day 2 – Unlimited Gelato FTW!

I slept soundly the first night of DFAT. In fact, I overslept and woke up with several knocks on the door and my mobile phone ringing. Ate Ria was calling me and when I opened the door, Ate Dulce was standing outside. To make it worse, I was in my undies pa. Nakakahiya lang! So I asked if they could wait for me for 10 more minutes just so I can brush my teeth, dress up, and fix my things. It’s a good thing I took a bath before going to sleep. Continue reading

Davao Food Appreciation Tour Day 1 – To biik or not to biik

The Davao Food Appreciation Tour is an annual event organized by Avatar Media where they get bloggers from all over the Philippines and take them on a gastronomic experience they will never forget. I was lucky enough that my application was picked to be part of their 4th year! Continue reading

Davao Food Appreciation Tour Day 0 – Prelude to gluttony

Before I was a blogger, I was following Ada’s blog and saw these series of posts about the Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT). I immediately felt envious and thought I had a slim chance of even setting foot in Davao because for one, I’m heck scared of riding an airplane (Still am, by the way). Secondly, I was equally afraid of going to Mindanao. Who would’ve thought that a year later, I was experiencing the same things Ada and the other bloggers did during DFAT 2010?!? Continue reading

Meeting blogger friends from yesteryears

Before I took the alias as ‘The Creative Dork’, I had a blog folio at Robxdesign.com. Before that, I took refuge in a portfolio site as Sushi-boy. But even way before that, I was an angsty jeje teenager who had an emo blog at Kud0s.org. I was a college freshman and I didn’t know any better and it’s a past I’ve been hiding from everyone up until now. Continue reading

Photowalking in Davao

There are a lot of misconceptions about Mindanao being a chaotic place with lots of terrorists. Heck, I admit I thought the whole region is dangerous that before I went to Ozamiz last year, I thought someone would sneak in my room and slit my throat. OA lang. I was gladly proven wrong.

After going to Davao, I can attest that it is one of the most underestimated places in the country. Not only is it safer than Manila, but with low cost of living plus the amount of tourist spots (and superb food), Davao City is definitely a place worth checking out. In fact, I’ve even considered relocating there for good. Continue reading

Drawing heads to get ahead

Like I’ve said before, I never really had any formal training in sketching and I’m pretty sure it shows in my illustrations. One of my major weaknesses is proportions and body parts and it may be because of my lack in practice. The moment I was able to find a strategy in shortening my workflow and covering my mistakes, I never tried to challenge myself again. Continue reading

Pupu coffee at Bag of Beans, Tagaytay

This is another famous coffee shop and foodie place in Tagaytay, most popularly known because they house the most expensive coffee in the world—Civet coffee. Team Kaladkarin went there mid-afternoon for some snacks and because most of us were still full from our heavy lunch at Manos Greek Taverna, we didn’t order much. Continue reading

Photowalking in Picnic Grove, Tagaytay

Robbie Bautista

A road trip to Tagaytay won’t be complete if you don’t stop by the Picnic Grove. Of course, this is for regular people only who don’t have enough cash to hang out at the more expensive places in Tagaytay, which is exactly what we were when we went to the highlands. And for only P25 for an entrance fee, it seemed like a good deal. Epek kung epek. Continue reading
